Here are two of my super secret serious spies:

I started my day with a fruit smoothie and a 2 mile run.
Down 0.2 lbs this week. At least it’s going in the right direction.
Happy Monday. It’s VBS week here!
Ethan had his second ever piano recital on Friday. He takes lessons from a high school aged girl that has several beginner students for the last year and a half. She puts together a nice program at her house at the end of each year.

The kids were adorable and they all played two pieces: one solo and one duet with their teacher. They had a Disney theme for this recital. At least one of each of their songs was a Disney piece: Pirate’s Of the Carribean Theme, Reindeer Are Better Than People, A Whole New World, Colors of the Wind. . .
We’ll take a few months off and start back again in the fall. I think Audrey will start taking lessons too.
Huh. Well, it seems that when you have a showing for your house and the basement has 6 inches of water in it, that they tend to not want to buy the house. Who knew? 😉
At least no one is living there. No one has stuff in the basement that is getting ruined. We don’t have to give a deal on rent for the month. So, there are some things that make this stressful situation not nearly as stressful as it could be.
I’m waiting to hear from our realtor today regarding what she thinks we should do at this point. We don’t have a property manager anymore. So, we don’t have anyone in charge of taking care of everything.
It’s a good thing we bought a house last year.
Would you pray for peace and wisdom for us? It could be worse, but it’s still hard.

Hammocks in the summer and blue sky. I’m thankful for our backyard!
It’s going to be a hot week. 90 degrees for the next several days. I’ll take it!
It was a great Father’s Day!
Audrey brought breakfast in bed and a handmade card to Nathan. Then Isaac snuck to the pantry and brought a granola bar upstairs as his gift. It was so sweet. We gave Nathan a fire pit and we’ve been having fun testing it out to make s’mores.
We went to church this morning and then we had a fun afternoon. We went swimming, got ice cream and caught fire flies in the back yard.

Nathan is currently on the phone wishing his dad a “Happy Father’s Day”. My dad is on a fishing trip. So, I’ll have to call him later. It’s great to be able to celebrate fabulous fathers.
I just finished Code Name Verity. It is a YA novel that is set in WW2 and it was fantastic. It’s the kind of book I can’t tell too much about without spoiling it. It’s a “read it again” book, for sure. In fact, as soon as you get to the end, you’re going to want to read it again and talk to someone about it (and it will probably be your spouse who wants to read the book and you have to wait for him to read it first…. gah!)
Description from Amazon:” Oct. 11th, 1943-A British spy plane crashes in Nazi-occupied France. Its pilot and passenger are best friends. One of the girls has a chance at survival. The other has lost the game before it’s barely begun.
When “Verity” is arrested by the Gestapo, she’s sure she doesn’t stand a chance. As a secret agent captured in enemy territory, she’s living a spy’s worst nightmare. Her Nazi interrogators give her a simple choice: reveal her mission or face a grisly execution.
As she intricately weaves her confession, Verity uncovers her past, how she became friends with the pilot Maddie, and why she left Maddie in the wrecked fuselage of their plane. On each new scrap of paper, Verity battles for her life, confronting her views on courage, failure and her desperate hope to make it home. But will trading her secrets be enough to save her from the enemy? ”
The other book I just finished reading tonight is Kissing Doorknobs. It’s a novelization of the author’s experience as an early teen with OCD. It’s not clinical, but rather a story. It’s engaging and thought-provoking. The family dynamics were painfully easy to relate to.
Next up: The Giver. I want to read it and see if it would be a good book for Ethan.

It’s hard to get a good shot while everyone is looking into the sun. 🙂
The day was supposed to have rain off and on, but some friends were going to the pool and we decided to chance it and meet them! We ended up enjoying a little sun. We had the pool almost to ourselves too.
I keep thinking we should do a little school work to keep everything fresh, but the pool, my new books and chances to nap with a willing kid look better.
