Poor pup is waiting for some excitement.
Audrey, you should know that Daddy and I are making sure that Max gets fed and let outside when he needs it! We have kept you door shut, too. Your stuffed animals are safe.
Ethan and Isaac, I did let Max go in your room to look out the window just for a bit. He wasn’t in there long and we left the room the way we found it. Max needed to bark at some rabbits for a while. Your window has the best view.
Sunday was our first full day of having the kids gone. So quiet. So still. A little lonely.
1) Arrived at church earlier than we needed to be there. No kids to check in. I didn’t think about that until we got there.
2) Cleaned the house. It’s going to stay clean (except for laundry and dishes)!
3) I discovered my inner artist:
I wanted to paint a canvas to hang on Audrey’s door. I don’t have a lot of talent. I’m not good at painting or drawing, but it was still fun.

Audrey seemed pleased when I showed it to her on skype last night. That’s all that matters, right?
According to Kylene’s post, it sounds like the kids are having a fabulous time. Audrey was so excited about this trip that she wrote me a love note a couple weeks ago that said, “Mom, I love you so much, I can’t wait to go to Aunt and Uncle’s house.” Haha! She was counting down the days. The boys were excited too.
Nathan baked for us:

Wow! Isaac was blonde last summer. We must have spent more time outside 🙂

Nathan had an article posted on the Develop With Purpose blog this week. You should check it out:
IT’s Story Time
On Saturday we went to an event with some of Nathan’s teammates.
We went to Deer Run Retreat (a local camp) and they fed us lunch and we got to play!
We all put on life jackets (all of us) because the lake was 20 feet deep in some places. We swam and jumped on the little blob in the middle. Audrey and Nathan climbed to the top of the big slide to and then Audrey became to scared to go down. There was lots of screaming, but Nathan finally told her they were going down. It ended with more screaming and Nathan losing his glasses.
We can now talk about it again without Audrey crying. She was so frightened, but now she can think of the fun things we did and not the terrifying part 🙂
It’s been a while since I’ve swam in a real lake. It was quite an adventure.
Ethan is home! He got back last night and had lots to say.
Their team came in 13th out of 29. Right in the middle of the pack. Not bad. They learned a lot this year and had a great time. We’re looking forward to next year. They will be studying selected chapters in the Gospel of John.
Ethan is working hard to try to recruit his sister. So far, she isn’t interested. Ha!
It was quiet without Ethan. It’s nice to have everyone back together again.
Ethan’s team won 4 and lost 3 of their matches yesterday. Today is the day that really counts. The double elimination tournament starts this morning. Go Ethan!
Ethan left at 6:30 this morning and is headed to Indianapolis. He will be taking part in the national Bible Bowl competition. He wasn’t worried about leaving us behind at all! He hugged us, got in the car, and didn’t give us a second thought! He has studied very hard. I’m sure he will do well. Last night we got him from his bed to snuggle him in our bed because he was going to be gone for a few days and we quizzed him. In his sleep, he gave us correct answers– he even sang a song about one of the answers! Haha!
We’re praying that they wont get too stressed out and that they can remember all that they learned.
They have a normal round robin where they quiz each team in their division once on Tuesday. On Wednesday they have the main double elimination tournament.
It seems that Nathan set the bar pretty high the last two times Ethan was gone (and I was gone as well) because Isaac is sure this is “Mommy Adventure Day”. I think we might include a nap in our adventure because the 5:00 wake up call is catching up with me.

The flowers in the flower bed at the end of the court have bloomed. This makes it much easier to know what’s a weed and what isn’t! Nathan pulled lots of weeds in the 92 degree heat last night.
I planned to go for a three mile run. I didn’t realize how hot and humid it was until after I started. It was miserable. I did one mile and called it a night. Looks like I’ll need to run at 5:00am to beat the heat and get my run done before Nathan leaves in the morning.
We’re enjoying a quiet week at home after the crazy running around with VBS last week. One week to get ready for Ethan’s Bible Bowl Nationals tournament in Indianapolis.
